Definition of „DeSerter¡È: Renegade. DeSerter is new and different.
Independently, autonomous, independent. Free to search new ways.
Also free to pick up what happened before and free to connect what seems incompatible to many. He who is looking to compare finds comparisons everywhere and nowhere: within the protest movements of the 60¡s or the Singer/Songwriters of the 70¡s, New Wave born from Punk of the 80¡s to 118 - 122 BPM of the 90¡s until the postmodern disintegration of todays presence.
The Eclectisism is limited by the uniqueness as songwriter and singer. The randomness of the content is avoided by the courage of the message: a message gets re-imported without Weltschmerz and Bigmouthness.
Instead one will find mandatory, authentic themes and an expose with subjects of this time¡Ä.or simply of any time. DeSerter can be seen as a post-postmodern symptom: on the one hand as reflection of the original attempt when Rock¡n¡Roll, Rock, Pop were a rebellion of the individual against the cadence, on the other hand the consequential replacement of the hand-carved coming through the usage of customary software.
DeSerter stands for a simple concept: keep it simple! Not more, not less than a human being with a microphone and a laptop.
DeSerter wants you to emulate: so every child can realize its ideas of music fast, easy and with very low costs. Of course one can also you a guitar, DeSerter states undogmatic. But we do live in the 21st century. So the supposed handmade, original and for everyone open Rock¡n¡Roll is found buried underneath mountains of costs and seen in expensive Stadion Shows¡Ä.most of the times warmed-up. Thank god Robert Plant did not fall prey to this temptation compared to the ones that already did. The PC or Notebook makes up a new space to express new freedom for the direct, straight, no-compromise expression of every ones feelings and thoughts¡Äfor ones own song. This is not the only way for the renaissance of the original idea of Pop / rock / Rock¡n¡Roll that stayed the same beside all styles and fashions¡Äbut at least it¡Çs a way!
Pathos? Probably. Over simplyfication? For sure. It was always like this:
my, my, hey hey¡Ä(or „my oh my¡È? ). The borders are flowing and should stay like this.
So DeSerter is to desert in many ways: radical individuality against the power of fashion or ¡Èthe market¡É, existing in the age of the internet just a dream or a delusion of the industry. At the same time the usage of the new techniques not only for the user but for the human as a creative being. Additionally. DeSerter is not to be seen as a product from Germany for Germans, it stands as European, expressing himself in more languages talking to everyone who understands open borders not only as relief at the border but as symbol: with armies of deserters there will be no war of nations.
On 14th november the album ¡ÈThe Good Life¡É will be released.
This title of record is program: Economists know this term as the transcription of a live not in opulence but in its opposite meaning: a human life. (compare with publications of Skidelsky/Skidelsky: How much is enough? Money and the good life, 2012 or Nussbaum/Sen: The quality of life, 1993). Consequently in this song one can hear based on the banking crisis and their consequences, from the perspective of a non-Global-Player and also not from a consumer, but from a human being who wants to live a life:l: While the Doers ain¡Çt caught we play a different game: We lead the Good Life. In advance DeSerter releases the Single ¡ÈPictures of me¡É, a discussion with the power of the pictures, inspired i.a. by Neil Postman (compare 1992 Postman/Powers: How to watch TV). The bow is tensioned from private to global Catastrophes and the point is: We can try to believe, believe in peace, in mankind or even in God, but we will hardly succeed in withdrawing the suggestive power of the pictures, in both good or bad. And that may have something to do with the feeling that I too could be the one – What if that¡Çs Pictures of me?
Opener of the Album is the Song ¡ÈFirst World Third¡É. As an example for this: recently an outraged afro-american citizen from Ferguson, Missouri, given the behavior of the police, who had shot a minor, said in the microphones: Today the United States are the Third World.
That is what it is all about: What makes the supposedly first world look like? The gross national product? Or isn¡t it all about the way we deal with each other, the way we respect each other, concede rights¡Ä.what about it?
Perhaps others are now having somewhat ahead from the westerners, like for example the Bolivians, being talked about in the song and that have broken away from the tutelage of the United States.
