ABOUT SHOW | HIDE

I'm Melisa, a Barcelona-based Argentinian producer, and I make Music For Space Stations: SUNESIS. Sounds like Boards of Canada, Royksopp, SURVIVE. #electronic #spacesynth #cinematic
I am an independent artist born in Argentina and living in Barcelona and I would love to show my music in the context of video games, movies, series, documentaries, live shows.

SUNESIS continues to advance in her musical career after her debut with her album “Orbital”, recognized as one of the best electronic albums of 2023 by the prestigious magazine MondoSonoro and DJMag Spain. This producer, who has taken her live performance with analog synthesizers to countries such as Sweden (Way Out West), aims with “Mercury” to give more prominence to the beat, powerful and earthly, in addition to the enjoyment of the listener, who is made a participant in each of the scenes narrated in her tracks, without losing that cosmic touch that defines her.

Bio:
SUNESIS shows a hint of her Medical and Clinical Research background in her musical creations; her sounds take us to unexplored territories, like on a journey through histopathological preparations that resemble the mysteries of Outer Space, full of galaxies, nebulae and the unknown.

SUNESIS is one of the 74 of of 800 selected musicians and innovators participants supported by Keychange in 2023. She played at Way Out West Festival (Gothenburg, Sweden) in August and assisted to BIME and Reeperbahm music conferences in 2023.
SUNESIS believes in bringing the synthesizer closer to women and gender expansive people as a resourceful music production tool. Supported by the Creative Europe Programme of the European Union, Keychange is an international movement that invests in Innovative, emerging artists, with a distinctive and original talent whilst encouraging music organizations to sign up to a gender balance pledge. The year-long programme takes place at 13 festivals across Europe and Canada.

SUNESIS has performed in various venues since 2019 around Spain, such as Sala Apolo, Upload Barcelona,  Casa Bonay (Shesaidso.Spain, MutekES, British Council), Música per Arquitectura in 2024, ELEKTRAV, Teorema, Dantz Festival: Natura Elektronikoa and many more incredible opportunities. As a fun fact, SUNESIS performed dressed as an Alien from the Star Wars Universe, she also performed at a Shadowrun themed event (Cyberpunk/Fantasy event)!

SUNESIS is the co-creator of the ‘Electric Synthicate’ Collective (artists from Spain based on music with synthesizers). She feels proud to have created a community of artists (musicians, photographers and designers) and she’s always thinking of innovative ideas to make the collective more known.

LAST RELEASE: MERCURY EP (01Nov2024)
The Barcelona-based Argentinian producer returns with “Mercury”, an EP that not only reflects her growth as an artist, but also a journey towards healing and catharsis through electronics.
SUNESIS continues to advance in her musical career after her debut with her album “Orbital”, recognized as one of the best electronic albums of 2023 by the prestigious magazine MondoSonoro.
And “Mercury” begins with “Relative to the Stars”, a cinematic track that salutes the THX sound and serves as an introduction to the rest of the story that is told in this new EP, where “Surface”, the single from the same, is the true protagonist. “Surface” is the darkest track of this new work and is inspired by the gloomy and futuristic atmosphere of nightclubs in films like Matrix and Blade, wanting to be a faithful reflection of that feeling of getting lost in the music, feeling the beat, being inseparable from it.
The next single “Left Alone”, where Sunesis plays with the creation of analog sounds with the Prophet synthesizer, speaks of chosen solitude and makes reference to Mercury, an inhospitable, extreme and somewhat forgotten planet in our solar system.
In this same narrative line, but with an uptempo touch and more eccentric and raw sounds, we find “Locked to the Sun”, with a marked bass line that fades away until the end of the track.
And so, we come to “Stellar”, a track born from improvisation that rises as a flag of self-love and healing through music, catharsis made sound, the best way to end this personal and genuine album.

ORBITAL Album:
Released 08Oct23: While it is true that her previous EP, “Music for Space Stations”, tries to tell a fictional story that takes place inside the space station, an imaginary created by this tireless producer and musician, her new album “ORBITAL”, reflects all those stories that could happen in outer space, resulting in “space-operas” narrated musically.

MUSIC FOR SPACE STATIONS (May2020): A contemplative journey within the insights of the mind.
This EP has been part of a personal and musical growth. It was created during years of freedom, happiness, solitude and love. This album talks about introspection and I couldn't find a better way to describe it than imagining being in space for a long long time.
My music is based in the future but it is never dehumanized.
Welcome to Space Exploration!
