The Detroit Emeralds

During the 1960’s and 1970’s, Motor City legends The Detroit Emeralds proved time and time again that the great soul/R&B that emanated from that landmark city didn’t begin and end with that record label over on West Grand Boulevard. One of many leading acts on Westbound Records, DE’s hits such as “You Want It – You Got It” , “Do Me Right” and “Baby Let Me Take You (In My Arms)” were soul smashes that even made inroads onto Billboard’s Hot 100 Pop Chart. While the original lineup parted ways by the end of the 1970’s, group co-founder and original lead-singer James Mitchell Jr. now leads a new grouping of the Detroit Emeralds.

The Detroit Emeralds are set to release their new LP, "There Is No Distance," in April. This 180-gram transparent green vinyl LP will be available in a limited edition of 500 numbered copies, each including an autographed photo by James Mitchell Jr.
The album features a blend of new and previously released material.

Side A includes the title track and several songs previously released digitally by the band's current lineup. Side B showcases two newly mixed versions of recent digital releases, a brand-new song, and the rediscovered gem "Every Woman Is Special." Recorded during the same sessions as The Floaters' "Float On," "Every Woman Is Special" is a soulful treasure unearthed from an old cassette tape.

While retaining the charming imperfections of its vintage recording, the song embodies the pure, soulful sound that made The Detroit Emeralds legendary.

The new lineup has been diligently rehearsing a full live show, complete with costume changes, in preparation for their upcoming tour. MCM Global Team, the band's label, will soon announce pre-order details and upcoming promotional activities.
