ALICATE was formed by Jonas Erixon and Fredrik Ekberg. A few years later Glenn Ljungkvist joined. 1989 a 7" single "The End" was released. The band has toured in Sweden and Finland and supported Ian Gillan on his Toolbox tour 1992. ALICATE broke up the same year.
In 2006 ALICATE reformed with a new drummer, Jesper Persson. 2009 they released the album “World of Anger” (Forestrecords Sweden) and played at Sweden Rock Festival the same year. 'World Of Anger' was followed by 'Free Falling’ (2013) and ’Unforgiven To Be Forgiven’ (2018).
However, the album Butterfly (2022) was the break thru with the extravagant title track truly showcasing Jonas Erixon’s vocals. Alicate is a band ready to show the world of melodic hard rock that they are a force to recon with.
The most recent album ’Heaven Tonite’ was released on April 19, 2024 on Pride & Joy Music (EU) and on August 21, 2024 on Marquee/Avalon (Japan). Shortly after the release of "Heaven Tonite" keyboardplayer Glenn Ljungkvist quit the band, and was replaced by Marcus Zerath (Oskaru).
