René van den Berg from Bloemfontein in South Africa started her career performing Afrikaans folk music, however over the last couple of years she has embarked on a radically different direction with the aid of lyricist Esther Slabbert, creating something totally utterly different from everything else in the South African music scene. What they have produced is sumptuous European symphonic rock, featuring Rene’s warm rich voice that has a unique French chanson tremor, and indeed their music has a touch of the tempestuous torch song about it. If you imagine the sort of dramatic passionate songs from musical theatre shows like Les Misérables or a more powerful Sarah Brightman, mixed with epic soundtrack music with wonderful orchestrations and performed by a premier league rock band, then perhaps we are somewhere roundabouts, but this is music without boundaries, it’s strong enough to appeal to symphonic rock/metal fans of bands like modern Nightwish, but familiar and accessible for classic rock listeners as well. News of great music travels far and fast, Rene and her band came to the attention of Aii radio’s Brian Dade, and through him to the appreciative ears of the listeners which included representatives of British label Ravenheart Music, who took one listen and eagerly snapped up the band for Worldwide distribution. Crimson Chrysalis are producing classic timeless universal music that is about to set the World ablaze, songs for all people that touch the soul, a voice that will live in every heart.
