JACK'S MANNEQUIN
Jack's Mannequin began in 2004 as a solo project by Andrew McMahon, lead vocalist and pianist of the rock band Something Corporate. Something Corporate, a five-piece band from Orange County, California, debuted in November 2001 and attracted attention as an unusual band that boldly used piano in the pop punk/emo scene. Andrew, the frontman and songwriter at the time, was 19 years old and highly regarded as a genius, and his youth and good looks quickly earned him the status of a popular band. However, in the summer of 2004, the members were exhausted from touring and took a break. Andrew took his time to write and record songs without any deadlines in order to give shape to the ideas he had been nurturing during the tour. He didn't have a contract with a record company, so he started recording with his own pocket money. Jim Wert, producer of Something Corporate, and Robert Anderson, a.k.a. Bobby Low, a support guitarist of Something Corporate, joined him, and the work progressed over the summer. Later, his manager brought a demo tape to Maverick Records, and a contract was made. Tommy Lee of Motley Crue and others appeared as guests, and the first album "Everything in Transit" was completed. However, after the album was completed, Andrew was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in May 2005, and the planned tour was canceled. He was forced to take a break from music, but the album released in August of the same year reached a peak of 37th place on the US charts. He has now recovered from his illness, and the Japanese version was released in April 2006, and he performed in Japan in January 2007. In October 2008, they released their second album, "The Glass Passenger," and returned to Japan in January 2009. In 2010, Andrew and Bobby performed in Japan as an acoustic duo, which was met with great acclaim. In October 2011, they released their long-awaited third album, "People and Singles." In March 2012, they performed in Japan as a band, further demonstrating their popularity.
