Eskilstuna trio Knivsidan have released their debut album Eskilstunasyndromet, eleven songs where dark Swedish pop collides with the eighties, electronic punk, trap beats, guitars and cinematic soundscapes.

Knivsidan move through a musical borderland of their own. Think Terminator and Blade Runner after a night at a secret tunnel rave, with a wounded Veronica Maggio in the back seat. It is melodic and immediate, but beneath the surface lies something considerably darker. Relationships, desire, destructiveness, longing and dystopian undercurrents run through the album, from the sexually charged Latex and the darkly shimmering Suckarnas Allé to Cigarett, Nyfors (Jag Tänker På Dig) and the closing Tillbaka.

The roots lie in Eskilstuna, and not least in Nyfors, the district where all three band members Andreas Horvarth, Stefan Eriksson and Pehr Skjoldhammer have lived. Together they have shaped a sound where a raw past meets an electronic future. The result is pop that wants to get inside the body and under the skin.

Behind Knivsidan there are also many years of experience from the Swedish and international music scene, with backgrounds in bands including Alfahanne, Vinterland, Le Mans, Brotherhood and Arcana. But Eskilstunasyndromet is not about where they have been...
