This emo/melodic hardcore band hails from Stony Brook, New York, USA, and was formed by members who have also played in other hardcore bands such as RAIN OF SALVATION, TYPECASTE, SeeYouSpaceCowboy, HANGMAN, and SOUL PROVIDER.
They released "Painting Words Into Lines" on The Coming Strife Records in 2020, "Drives Out East" on Triple B Records in 2021, and "Ten Digits Away" on Pure Noise Records in 2022.
The band's name "Koyo" is derived from Japanese and means "autumn leaves" or "autumn colors" and their high-energy sound, which blends melodic LIHC grooves and aggression with pop-punk hooks and emotional melodies that express a poignant nostalgic feeling reminiscent of "koyo" strongly reflects their love for and influence on the past, present, and future Long Island, NY scene.
They have toured with bands such as COMEBACK KID, BAYSIDE, SILVERSTEIN, KNOCKED LOOSE, STICK TO YOUR GUNS, DRAIN, NO PRESSURE, and ANXIOUS.
They released their 1st album "Would You Miss It?" in September 2023. The Japanese edition of this album includes a new version of the band's signature song, "Moriches."
After their first Japan tour in January 2024, they made headlines with surprise appearances at the BLOODAXE FESTIVAL and SUPERHEAVEN's Tokyo performance. In November of the same year, they released "Mile A Minute" digitally. They have appeared with SOUND AND FURY and on the VANS WARPED TOUR, and toured with NEW FOUND GLORY, DRAIN, ARM'S LENGTH, and others.
The release of their second album, "Barely Here," is scheduled for May 2026. This album features guest appearances from their close friends Sammy Ciaramitaro of DRAIN and Marisa Shirar of FLESHWATER, and is said to be even more aggressive and melodic than their previous work. Another Japan tour and an appearance at the BLOODAXE FESTIVAL follow the release of the album.
