Stargirl is sort of a mysterious music project formed in Nagano, Japan in 2021. Maiko Kitazawa plays guitar, sings, and composes most of the songs. Akemi Ito plays the drums and is responsible for the grooves. The duo are collectors of vintage and recycled instruments, both are geeks, and Stargirl's music travels through climates and soundscapes that range from delicate shoegaze to soft touches of dreampop and noisepop, and some lo-fi influences and even bossa nova. Their sound is very reminiscent of bands like Slowdive, My Bloody Valentine, and even Drop Nineteens, Beach House, and Mazzy Star. Most of Stargirl's songs are sung in Japanese and have a deep and moving delicacy. "Kitchen" is the first single from the unprecedented EP that they will release worldwide via Before Sunrise Records, a Brazilian label specializing in Shoegaze, Dreampop, Noisepop, and experimental music, responsible for releases by artists such as TEKE::TEKE (CA), Cidade Dormitório (BR), Hate Moss (IT), Post-Modern Connection (CA), BIKE (BR), among others.
