i have a self contained setup of wireless mic, electric guitar, looper and keyboard synthesizer that connects to either a 40 or 80 watt onstage speaker / monitor. all of it can be battery powered, or connect to an onstage power strip.

for larger venues with a PA system, i prefer to connect my onstage monitor into your PA / DI box with a balanced cable. (please note: it's best to turn your onstage monitors off)
