Mark L.Pettiford aka TattLeeMark, is a singer, songwriter/ musician, and producer from Virginia Beach, Va. who has an eclectic mix of funk, rock, alternative, dance, instrumental, ska, reggae, and hip-hop. Playing original music that gets crowds moving. Born in Indianapolis, IN. Mark's father was in the Navy and he and his family lived and traveled a lot, finally settling in Virginia Beach in the late 70's early 80's. Mark's influence with music started early from his father (Robert J. Pettiford) being a drummer before the military and holding a massive record collection. He would imbrace the pop culture of the 80's and its artist, along with his mother and fathers 60's and 70's influences. He Started playing guitar as a first instrument, that would inspire the desire to pursue a music career. Starting out in the early 90's with friends and local musicians, putting together various projects (FX-Artist in 92, Presence in 95, and Project M12-29 in 97) That mixed funk, rock, fusion and anything else that was inspiring, and started playing gigs in the Hampton Roads area. Mark started to build on his stage craft and songwriting skills and earned the stage name "TattLeeMark" cuz a friend was calling him 'Tattman' for a littlie bit because of his tattoos early on. So... Mark just dropped the "man" out and added his middle name (Lee) and first name (Mark) to make it "TattLeeMark" for a more flashy name.

Project M12-29 the most successful group Mark was in, formed in late 97' with Dave Samson (Drummer) and Alec Poletsky (Guitarist). They played live, on college radio station (WNSB) Norfolk State University and did open mic tours all most every night, while writing and preparing a musical called "The Saga of Slim" about two pimps (Slim & Chief "Slap a Hoe") who fight over money, territory and a girl. The stage show was filled with stage props and costumes, with the band and guest musicians performing and acting out the parts, Mark was playing the part of Slim, while each song represented a scene. The band is featured on a Cd called “Killing Time Southside Virginia Compilation, that was released in 1999 independently. After M12-29, Mark would do several other projects for a while, G.T.A. (Groove Town Alliance) a Funk Rock, Alternative, Hip Hop group that he formed with fellow member Tony Muun in 2010  and most recent, TattLeeMark / Tattallac Groove 2012 - present and Oracle V & The V-Nauts 2020  a character created by TattLeeMark, with music and a video for the concept. Right now, TattLeeMark is finishing up on his EP called ”Love Life Music" due out in September 2024.
