XTIE becomes the first Hong Kong musician to perform in GRAMMYs "PRESS PLAY" series with her self-produced song "Skin"

The name of the up-and-coming Hong Kong songwriter XTIE is gaining recognition, as she recently became the first Hong Kong musician to perform in the "PRESS PLAY" series of the Recording Academy (GRAMMYs) with the song "Skin." She joins internationally renowned artists such as BTS, SEVENTEEN, and Kang Daniel in featuring on the GRAMMYs official channel. The report also announced the release of XTIE's new EP "APOLLO-23," which she wrote and produced entirely, to be launched on June 2nd.

Every May, the GRAMMYs curate an original playlist to celebrate Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, acknowledging the achievements of Asian musicians in and outside of the music industry. The GRAMMYs invite musicians with potential in music and global impact to participate, focusing on the musicians' originality and enabling global music lovers to share highly creative musical works online. XTIE's reworked version of "Skin" was released (May 11th) and simultaneously uploaded to various social media platforms by the GRAMMYs, making it particularly meaningful for her: "As an Asian female music producer, I have always hoped to connect Western and Hong Kong music through my music while bringing Hong Kong music to the international stage. This is significant for me because it is a significant and recognizable international platform to showcase my work. It took me two days to digest this big news!"

The song "Skin" was released at the end of last year as a letter to her body, who had struggled with eczema and being too “thin”, and as a means of inspiring people who felt anxious about their body image. After learning that the song had received this invaluable opportunity, XTIE reworked "Skin": "I re-arranged this song in live looping form, hoping to show that I am not only a singer but also an arranger, so that listeners can hear different versions on different platforms."

XTIE debuted in 2020 and has arranged music for projects such as "Anthropology 亻言" by Alfred Hui, "My POV" by Janice Vidal, and the theme song for "King Maker IV." Her personal works have also achieved impressive results in the United States, South Korea, Taiwan, and other places. Influenced by Western and Asian pop music since childhood, XTIE became a self-taught music producer and started writing songs and performing at the age of 13, hoping to encourage fans to become confident and self-loving individuals through her works. XTIE, who has achieved success on the international music stage, will release her new EP "APOLLO-23" on June 2nd. The title refers to the Apollo spacecraft of 2023, carrying her songs from her debut until now: "I hope to use music to speak about the relationship between people, nature, and oneself..."

In February, XTIE released the single "New Classic" in collaboration with Japanese producer TOMOKO IDA. As two female producers from Asia, they expressed themselves through music.
