BLACK STEAM is a heavy metal band from Linköping, Sweden. BLACK STEAM was formed in September 2017 on the initiative of vocalist Stefan Borg. Jan Högström and Wilhelm Glanz were the first to hook up on Stefan's band idea.
Hans Liljebladh and Oscar Rask joined the band a month later.
With inspiration from bands such as Judas Priest, Metallica, Ghost and Sabaton and more,
they have nevertheless found a unique sound; simple, straight forward and with catchy choruses.
The first single, Tomorrow I'm Gone, was released on 30 March 2018, followed by Metal Guardians, Call For Eternity and Midnight Obsession in the same year.
The band made their first live performance at Palatset in Linköping on April 21, 2018.
They continued to play throughout the year and also continued to write new music. In September 2019, they released a self-titled EP with four tracks; Pain, To Your Grave, Soul Reaper and Motherland.
More gigs and plans for an album were set, but the Corona pandemic put everything on hold. At the same time, Oscar decided to leave the band. Uffe Tillman (Crossing Eternity) was recruited as a new drummer in April 2020. The single Broken was partially recorded when Jan had to leave the band for personal reasons. Jesper Johansson (Morifade) joined the band as a new guitarist in October but left only a couple of months later due to different wishes from the rest of the band.. The band decided to finish recording Broken with Jan on solo guitar and released the single on June 9, 2021.
As Jan had still decided to leave, the band continued to look for a new guitarist and in November 2021, Carl Lidberg was recruited. One year later Black Steam had finalized their debut album.
Ahead of the album they released four singles: Fight on June 3, Falling on August 25, Strong And United on November 11 and Feel The Power on November 22.
The album, Come To My Darkness, was released on November 25, 2022.
The lyrics often have a dark undertone and multiple messages. There is also inspiration from Stefan's military background and several years of experience as a helicopter pilot and flight instructor in the Swedish Armed Forces.
Seeing Black Steam live is a guaranteed pleasant experience that, in addition to high-intensity heavy metal music, is also a visual experience that leaves no one unaffected.
