Ryan Villanueva Pugal, known professionally as Ryan Lagup, is an American Filipino singer, songwriter, master of ceremonies and entrepreneur. Known for his unique and variegated vocals, Ryan blends genres and subgenres of 80’s freestyle, pop, R&B, reggae, guitar, funk, dance and trap.
In 2007, Ryan competed on season one’ Famecast competition and gained national and international exposure and gained recognition worldwide and beat out thousands and viewers worldwide voted Ryan into the Top 5 after 8 weeks of competition. At the Finals In Austin, Texas in front of a live audience and live taping Ryan won the “Best Artist Promotion Award” and placed in fourth place. Ryan signed a artist development deal with TMG and released his first independent album This Is Me the Demo Project (2008/selling 10,000 units); it contained the single “Miss You So Much, Don’t Know Why” and “Boogie Nights (Money, Success, Fame, Glamour) the album hit No.1 on the indie music charts.
OTHER VENTURES
In September 2020, Ryan launched his own line of shoes, Lagup, named after his last name flipped backwards with a silent ‘p’ and pronounced Lagoo like Magoo. The launch of his skater shoe sold 50 pairs in the first month. In December 2020 Ryan invested in Movement Entertainment. He became a co-owner of the label and is currently under the label.
