ABOUT SHOW | HIDE
Back to the pure sound of 70s/80s synth music. The sound of the then Monophonic synthesizers and creative stacking of oscillators . We try to use the original synths as much as possible in combination with the new virtual techniques. Enjoy !
We try to create a link between different musicians and wizards to communicate with each other and develop creatively , together or solo. A bit like the old days where artists spent afternoons together in the orchard .

Ben Bollaert

Ben was born as the son of a saxophonist, and brought up with Dave Brubeck's Take 5.
He took the guitar to school more than courses, and at the age of 18, he got a piano and a rehearsal room from his father.
It wasn't long before he fell under the spell of the electronic music that was then making its appearance in contemporary music.
With his Rhodes and his ARP2600, he soon started experimenting in bars and clubs in Ghent. As a result, he was soon approached by funk/fusion groups to program or play along with their synths and the train was on its way.
Collaboration with Kandahar, Night Shift, Dirk Blanchart, Tars Lootens, Pablo's Eye, Neon, ...
Later on, Ben started up "The Soundfactory" together with a colleague, a small company that in the first place programmed synths and samples for clients, which was certainly needed in the late 80's. Eventually, "The Soundfactory" grew into a professional synth and recording shop. With clients like Hans Zimmer, Dan Lacksman, Bjork, Soulwax, Spilt Second, VRT, Yannic Fonderie.
Learned through Roland Instruments , Ikutarō Kakehashi ( together with Dave Smith the inventor of MIDI ) and stayed a while in Japan to take a look in the studios and RD department of Roland Musical instruments .
Meanwhile, Ben continued to make music and was at the rise of the New Beat in several studios to find as a session pianist. In 2016, Ben decided to choose the musicianship direction again.
Nothing's wrong in paradise ... "a moving soundtrack to a film that never was".

Sunstroke Album ....Nothing's wrong in paradise ( Ben Bollaert and Etienne Delaruye.)
They got to know each other through compositions for theatre, performances such as "Game" by Samuel Beckett, 2 like-minded musicians had found each other and became involved as musicians in the "Festival of Flanders" and long-time colleagues in Jazz Fusion band "Kandahar".
On a sultry summer evening with the necessary nostalgic drinks and enough inspiration, they decided to try something new.
Both musicians, influenced by jazz, pop and classical music, would make an album together.
The polyphonic synthesizers had found their way into contemporary music and the album had to be a combination of both musical influences, Joe Zawinul, Vangelis, E. Satie,
A pile of ideas were scribbled on paper and a collection of themes were recorded at Ben's piano on a Teac 4-track tape recorder.
Ben, by then a wizard in programming synths, had prepared most of the sounds for the right atmosphere of the songs and the record.
Sequencers were not yet an issue for us and everything still had to be played in analogue. ... reverb was not yet an issue so the instruments are programmed here in length and release and can be listened to in all their beauty.
After a few months of preparation DK Studio was booked for 14 days of studio... "a dream came true". The album received a lot of attention at the midem in Cannes (Japan, Australia ...) and was well received worldwide. A second album was planned but was delayed due to the start-up of The Soundfactory ...
