Hoirong is a noisy noise rock band from India. They play a messy and confusing blend of punk, noise, post-rock, and other cool-sounding genres. The band, fronted by vocalist and chief songwriter Kamal Singh, began life in 2013 as a bedroom project, before slowly morphing into a full-fledged and fully dysfunctional band. They have released four full-lengths records, a throwaway acoustic EP, and a host of singles and silly covers to keep the juices flowing.

The band has a dedicated following in India, and their work has thus far been critically well-received.

Their sound has shifted in style and form with each new release. From the lo-fi alt-rock of their debut album, Resurrection of the Princess of Woe and Her Vampire Hound Posse, to the disco-infused Dandaniya Apraadh, to the pop-grunge of Mwah, the band has constantly found new sonic paths to explore. Their newest release, Cow Gives Milk, takes a frantic, guitar-heavy alternative sound and then sets out to mangle it at every step.

At the heart of Hoirong lies a contrast between the honesty of the music, crafted painstakingly, and an insistence on using slapstick and irony to deal with the chaotic, unpleasant, and complex business of music. References to the shambolic state of politics in India, the ridiculous world of Bollywood, digs at dishonest musicians around, all find pride of place in Hoirong's weird world.
