G.M.H. Thompson is a published poet. His 2018 chapbook, Yard Sale at the Devil's Petting Zoo (published by Spartan Press), is in the Library of Congress. His musical project, John Hawkwood's Blackfoot Sun, started in 2018 when, displeased by his bandmates' lack of creativity and lack of musical excellence, G.M.H. fired all the other members of his first band, Thee Oswalds, and renamed the band "John Hawkwood's Blackfoot Sun". He then rewrote all the songs he had written when the band was called Thee Oswalds &, in 2019, recorded a 43 minute LP at Blue Lotus Studio in Saint Louis, Missouri, USA, entitled "Thee Wizard of Os". Notable performances by John Hawkwood's Blackfoot sun include: the closing ceremony of the "Saint Louis International Film Festival" in 2019, ShowcaseSTL 2019, ShowcaseSTL 2018, & opening the 2018 Whiskey War Festival. G.M.H. Thompson is currently finishing his second full-length LP at Blue Lotus Studio. This second John Hawkwood's Blackfoot Sun LP, entitled "The Perfect Hand", will be a concept album, but unlike most concept albums, it will also be a cartoonish comedy. It will be centered on the Saint Louis music scene and consist of 14 songs (47 minutes) about fellow Saint Louis musicians such as "Tonina", "Sister Wizzard", and "Le'Ponds".
The band is currently completing their second full-length album at "Blue Lotus Studio" in St. Louis, Missouri. There are no clear plans for how this album will be released, but since it's a premium product, I'm sure some labels will probably become interested.
