Elena Ley was born in Milan, Italy.
She already knew by the tender age of twelve where her place in life should be: centre stage! And so she began her singing career with music lessons in one of Milan's famous music schools.
She formed her first rock-pop band "Toys and a Dolly" at the age of 14, toured through Italy playing in discos, bars, restaurants and at festivals. She won her first prize during this time as a "Shooting Star" in the "Rock Limbiate" music competition and recorded her first song "Save the best for last". After this came the first television appearances, including as a member of a choir in an Italian television show on Canale 5 and further appearances on larger and larger stages.
In 1993, she went to study in Cologne. There, she reinvented herself musically: she fell in love with Southern Rock and Country Music with "The Groove Box" band - a love that has stayed with her from that day till now! She quickly made a name for herself in the German country scene and travelled to Nashville to get to know her idols close up.
Her talent was never going to go unnoticed in Nashville and a "secret benefactor", who discovered her during her first tour in Nashville gave her active support. He was the one who got gigs for her in the home of country music, bringing her together with the local luminaries of the singer-songwriter scene and arousing her talent for playing the guitar to complement her singing talent. Unfortunately, she never got to know her benefactor...
However, she did get to know Steve Williams, the producer of her first CD "... and so on" as well as the different artists who were great influences on her, for example Wynonna Judd, Billy Ray Cyrus, Brad Paisley, Pam Tillis, Tania Tucker, Trisha Yearwood ...
In 2005, she got to know her bass player and now husband Max Mojo Moritz, and they jointly produced her first Italian album. "Brividi" was released in 2007. In 2018 a remastered version with four new songs was released where she wrote all the lyrics herself. They tell of love, of passion, of loss. The song "Nell'aria" is dedicated to her father, who died of cancer in 2003.
In 2008 she worked in television as TV-hoster and singer in an Italian music programme and had the chance to present her CD "Brividi".
In 2013 she finally arrived in Barcelona, Spain. There, she played in different bands - always on the lookout for new inspiration, new musical genres and her own sound. She finally found the right mix in her songs during her time in Nashville and she decided to perform the album again on the stage, on the radio and for fans.
The album contains some of her own songs: "If you came to me tonight", "Wish you were here" and the acoustic song "Lost", the original version of "Persa" from the "Brividi" CD. "Lost", her very own favourite song on the album that she wrote when she was still in Nashville tells of the ups and downs of every great love, of everlasting passion and deep despair - pure emotion, which she expresses with touching eloquence.
Elena currently lives in Barcelona with her husband Max Mojo Moritz, her dog Lucky and their two cats Jimi and Cyndi.
