Jamal Ahmad, the man behind Mardygra, was born in Berkeley, California and grew up in Los Angeles. Mardygra love affair with music began early in life, with his family introducing him to artists such as Chaka Khan, Earth Wind and Fire and Rick James.

By the time Mardygra reached high school he had already begun experimenting with the prospect of a career in music, starting his first rap group and skipping class to perform on the school steps. Before long Mardygra transitioned from a school-step freestyler to a full blown artist, recording in some of California’s biggest studios, and he has never looked back. As a writer/producer, his travels have taken him to Chicago, New York, Toronto and Hawaii to work with various artists.

With an eclectic group of influences including Michael Jackson, Prince, Quincy Jones, George Clinton, Bob James, Run DMC, Beastie boys and Chaka Khan just to name a few. It’s no surprise that Mardygra loves to party; and wherever he goes the crowd follows. With his hypnotic voice, electronic sound and the feel-good message behind his music, Mardygra continues to win the hearts of music lovers around the world.
